George Donnelly 
For more than thirty years Mr. Donnelly has dedicated his professional attention to the floor covering industry. His career began with a carpet cleaning franchise which included extensive training in carpet and fibers. Approximately twenty years have been spent either as a direct representative of a flooring manufacturer or in distribution, with positions in sales, sales management and as Director of Technical Services. In the four years directly preceding opening his testing and inspection service, Mr. Donnelly expanded his vision by working in the concrete moisture vapor control industry. This additional education has opened the door to understanding moisture movement from the earth, through concrete slabs and into building envelopes, where moisture and alkalinity have become the major cause of floor covering system failures.
The current trend in flooring is fashion and design oriented. Mr. Donnelly has always focused on the mechanics of materials, demanding that suppliers offer detailed specifications of manufacturing process, installation, suggested use and limitations. This information has been developed into a technical library covering cork, wood, rubber, sheet vinyl, solid vinyl, laminates, composites, terrazzo, carpet systems, ESD and resinous floors.
While working with concrete moisture vapor control, Mr. Donnelly took advantage of courses offered by the Aberdeen Group in concrete design and placement. This information became the bedrock for studies of concrete moisture vapor emission and transmission. Working with the geo-technical community, information and education regarding sub-slab moisture sources has been added to his working knowledge which has given him a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms surrounding moisture related floor failure. George Donnelly Testing and Inspections was opened in January, 2000 and has ever since endeavored to deliver the best test data and analysis available.
Mr. Donnelly has been certified, by the manufacturer, as a testing agency using the Vaprecision™ brand of calcium chloride test kit, to test for concrete moisture vapor emission. He is a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials, the American Concrete Institute and the World Floor Covering Association. Along with testing, analysis and consulting, Mr. Donnelly offers seminars on concrete moisture vapor emission. These seminars cover moisture source, design characteristics of intrusion prevention and approaches to topical remediation for existing slabs.
